The Reason of Motherhood

Postpartum Depression or simply called as PPD is a kind of clinical depression that starts after giving birth. In most cases, this happens among first-time mothers.

Not just Mothers, but Fathers too

On the other hand, there are cases as well in which fathers can feel the same thing too. The common signs for PPD are as follows:

  • Fatigue
  • Excessive crying
  • Difficulty in bonding with your newborn
  • Restlessness
  • Insomnia
  • Panic attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Feeling angry, shameful, hopeless or intensely overwhelmed and;
  • Loss of appetite

Even scientists don’t know the root cause of PPD. But similar to any other type of depression, it is most likely many other things.

The period for postpartum puts the person in a vulnerable time throughout which most of the typical causes of clinical depression similar to major life changes, extreme stress as well as biological changes happen simultaneously.

What Triggers PPD?

To give you an example, after the mother gave birth, it becomes hard for them to get enough sleep, their body is coping with the major fluctuations in their hormones, have to recover from life changing event after giving birth which might include surgery or medical interventions, face challenging and new responsibilities, feel lonely, confused and isolated too.
