Gun safety and kids
Hi Tracy,
I’m a pediatric occupational therapist with expertise in the impact of technology on child development. I would like to comment on gun safety with kids.
There is a large body of research that shows violent TV and videogames are causally linked to increased conflict and aggression in children. The visual system is like a camera, and replays scenes from movies, TV shows and videogames over and over. To put it simply – what a child watches is who they become.
Parents that allow their children to watch violence, should be prepared to deal with the behavior that follows by keeping all weapons under lock and key.
